Anya Kirsten Knappenberger

1/27/04

Greg has made sure that Anya is becoming a little Eagle's fan, even if the team flubbed their chance at going to the Superbowl.

Anya had her first Christmas and was a joy to watch as she figured everything out.  Of course she loved all of the bows and wrapping paper more than the books and toys contained inside, but we had a great time with her.

Here's another photo of Anya taken in December while she was in her crib.  She is such a strong girl now, cruising all over the place and starting to stand on her own.  I'm sure it won't be too much longer till she's walking... and then we're really in trouble!

And here are a few other photos we took at Thanksgiving.  She kept crawling away every time we sat her down for a picture so we must have taken 50 photos to get a few good ones.  As you can see, she is already becoming the little wine connoisseur.

OK, so it's been a while since I added any pictures of Anya and we've had some requests for updates!

Anya has come a long way since we last posted over 3 months ago.  She is now babbling like crazy and crawling, so now we have to chase her around and keep her from playing with the stereo equipment, telephone cord, etc. etc.  She is eating lots of baby food now and starting finger foods too (thank goodness for Cheerios!).

7/25/03  --

Anya has been keeping us busy.  She recently weighed in at 14 lbs. 2 oz., which is a pretty good weight for a nearly 6-month old.  She is lots of fun now that she laughs and smiles so much and is able to do so much more.  She has lost most of her baby hair and has more blonde/light brown hair coming in.

She loves being in the exersaucer because she can play with various toys and spin herself around.

She is doing better with being on her tummy (not fussing immediately) and has rolled over from front to back.  She discovered her feet a couple of weeks ago and gets infinite entertainment by playing with them.

She started cooing just before she turned 4 months old.  It was like someone turned on the volume switch and she has been exploring all of the vowel sounds she can make since that day.  She's not really babbling yet, but combines different sounds and pitches in a long string.

She loves it when you bounce her up in the air and sometimes just laughs and laughs when you play with her or when something you say particularly amuses her.

One of the only downsides is that she is at the beginning stages of teething (we think) because she chews on everything she can get her hands on and has had a few days where she was just downright cranky.  But we can't complain too much because she is still sleeping very well, usually just getting up once during the night for a "snack".

Anya has just begun with solid food (well, not really solid, just very soupy rice cereal mixed with breast milk) so we should have some more entertaining stories and good pictures soon.

4/29/03 -- Anya has been growing like a weed and has been smiling more during the last couple of weeks, especially when we make goofy sounds and faces at her.  She is now probably almost 11 lbs and is starting to fit in her 3-6 month clothing.  She loves watching the world around her now, and will stare at stuffed toys or ceiling fans or whatever catches her interest.  Her neck is getting much stronger now, as are her hands and arms.  She is learning to grab my hair when I bend over her - Ouch!
